casa Kyoka-an

The location is perfect. Very close to the large hub of bus/metro/train so you don't really have to transfer. And it's very close to the shopping zone and market. The place was super clean and cozy, it's a bit small but you can find everything you need. Aurore was very helpful and friendly as well, she gave us a wonderful tour upon our arrival and allowed us to leave the luggage there after checking out. Overall, it was a wonderful stay. Highly recommended when you visit Kyoto.

The location is in the city center. It is really quiet and sleeps well at night. But the interior of the house is soundproof. It doesn't matter to the same family. It is really a pleasant Kyoto experience, recommended!

Very good experience. 4 people lived for 5 days, the house was very clean, the towels provided 2 per person, bath liquid and shampoo conditioner, very good, kitchen items can also meet the demand, if the garbage, the mail will come the next day. Received, the orderer Aurore, very patient. This house is in the old house of Kyoto, but the interior decoration is relatively new, the winter is very warm, the bathing hot water is good, the only drawback is that the stairwell to the bedroom on the second floor is a bit cold, and the winter wears pajamas downstairs - frozen . The rest are very perfect, very satisfied, I plan to stay here in Kyoto next time.

If you are keen to have a touch or feel how people in the old days lived their lives in a Machiya, you should...though this will come with modern amenities and comfort. And interesting sleep on the tatami floor, though they also have another room with 2 single beds.

The machiya was a lovely stay for our family of 2 adults and 2 young kids. It's been refurbished with modern amenities and was clean and spacious. Quiet neighbourhood so you get a good night's rest after a long day, although the neighbours may beg to differ (with our kids making quite the ruckus). Sorry neighbours! The area in which the machiya was located was really quaint - plenty of small restaurants and bars you can nip into on a cold winter's night. Nearest subway was a 5 - 8min walk and one stop to Kawaramachi - the main shopping drag (Takashimaya), from there you can walk about 10mins across the river to Gion which is another delight to explore. Definitely a cosy abode worth returning to!
